Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to support the Soil Association. We value the time that volunteers give to our organisation, whether long-term, short-term or at events, and the skills and commitment that they bring to the organisation. Whether you want to meet new people, gain experience, or develop your skills, volunteering is a great way to make a difference too.

We welcome volunteers in our offices in Bristol and Edinburgh and occasionally have activities taking place across the UK.

How to get involved

To register your interest in volunteering please send us your CV along with a covering letter stating what area of work you are interested in and/or what department you would like to work for to volunteer@soilassociation.org. Once received, we will keep hold of your details and inform you of any opportunities which may arise. We aim to place people according to their skills, experience, interests and availability. The more information you provide us in your covering letter, the greater the likelihood of us being able to find an appropriate way to use your skills.

Some times of year are busier than others, for example Organic Fortnight, so do keep an eye out for opportunities throughout the year. Please take a look at the roles and projects advertised on our website to find areas that match your skills and interests.

We are very fortunate to receive a high level of interest for volunteering in our office, but with only limited opportunities available, this unfortunately means it is not always possible to place everyone that applies.

Other ways to get involved

There are lots of other ways to get involved with our work:

  • Grow and cook seasonal food, learn a new skill, visit an organic farm, get involved locally or join us - take action.
  • Work on an organic farm - if you are looking for practical, hands on experience with an organic producer you can contact WWOOF, a charity that facilitates working placement's on organic farms in the UK and abroad.
