Vanishing of the Bees

The Co-operative has launched a new film called Vanishing of the Bees to raise awareness of the crisis affecting our rapidly declining bee population.

What the Soil Association are doing to help

At the Soil Association we've been looking at the potential damage neonicotinoids could have on honeybees.

We've been campaigning for a ban on the neonicotinoids group of insecticides in the UK, meeting with the Prime Minister’s Environment Advisor at a roundtable meeting at Number 10 where we urged the Government to take action to make the whole of the British countryside much more bee friendly. We welcome the move to investigate the decline of honeybees, wild bees and other pollinators.

We're running an online petition to support our campaign to ban the use of neonicotinoids.

Peter Melchett, Policy Director was part of the panel discussing the plight of bees at the UK premiere of Vanishing of the Bees, and we're expecting some of our licensees to show regional screenings of the film soon.

We are submitting our petition during the WI’s 'Bee aware' action week beginning on the 24th October.
