Education
One of the Soil Association's founding principles was to play a role in educating the public about the connection between soil, food, the health of people and the health of the planet. Core to our mission is to inform and debate the future of food and farming, in the context of climate change, depleting resources and fluctuating energy prices.
In order to support our education work we have a range of resources and programmes:
- The Food for Life Partnership is revolutionising school meals, through increased use of fresh, seasonal, local and organic produce, reconnecting young people with where their food comes from and inspiring families and communities to grow and cook food.

- Our Organic Farm School is a series of over 300 hands-on courses in growing your own food, rearing animals, cooking and rural crafts. The courses provide the opportunity to learn practical skills from organic farmers with personal experience.

- To provide opportunities for the next generation of organic farmers to learn their trade we have set up our Organic Apprenticeship Scheme. We believe that apprenticeships are the key to a well-equipped and experienced future workforce and business community, particularly for those who choose not to take a formal education route into food and farming.

- Our resources for schools cover activity packs and flash animations to teach the connection between our health and that of the soil and the planet. Farm visits also play a critical part in this, through our organic farms network.
