Duchy Originals from Waitrose

For their Oat and Apple Porridge

Company profile

Ducy Originals from Waitrose - Oat and Apple PorridgeBack in the early 1980s when HRH The Prince of Wales moved to the Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire, he began the process of converting the Duchy Home Farm, which is part of the estate, to an entirely organic agricultural system. Within a short period of time Duchy Home Farm had begun growing and harvesting a range of its very own quality organic produce.

The Duchy Originals brand was launched in 1990 to help form our 'virtuous circle' - creating a brand which would enable customers to obtain organic food of the highest quality, produced using expert techniques and working in harmony with the environment and nature. Furthermore, the final part of the circle, all the profits from the sale of the products would go back to the The Prince's Charities Foundation, enabling Duchy Originals to support food charities and protect our British farming heritage.

From the first product, the Oaten Biscuit, which was made using oats grown on Home Farm, Duchy Originals now has more than 250 products in the range from farmers and food producers all over the UK. Duchy Originals and Waitrose have recently come together to help make the most of each other's expertise and grow the range to even more areas. From milk, eggs and bacon to biscuits, preserves and ales, Duchy Originals represents the best in British sustainable and organic food and drink - underpinned by a Good Food Charter which ensures each and every one of our products Is Good, Does Good, Tastes Good.
