Thank youTim Young - 11 February 2011So that was my third Soil Association conference, and I enjoyed it thoroughly – possibly my favourite of the three I’ve attended. Overall there it felt like there was more of a focus on exploring specific viable solutions to the problems we face, as opposed to just enumerating what all the problems are.
I think in this context that the emerging success of the Food for Life Partnership has been psychologically important – to hear Professor Kevin Morgan of Cardiff University describe the programme as the most important school food programme ‘since the second World War’ is not only pleasing from an organisational stand-point, but should be inspiration to think about what the next huge successes could be; both for the Soil Association itself, and the wider progressive food movement.
Anyway, I wanted to say thanks to all the bloggers who have shared their thoughts on the conference over the last couple of days, thanks to all the delegates and speakers for making it such a great event, and thanks to anyone who has taken the trouble to read any of this or leave comments. And also special thanks to my colleagues, particularly Molly, Laura and Amy (and others) who ran themselves ragged making it such a great day.

Two years later he is still trying to grow vegetables, and is very hopeful that one day soon he will have some success.
