Grower Wanted in Flintshire - North Wales

18 October 2012

We are looking for a grower to develop our tranquil site in Cilcain into a veg producing enterprise for our members.

The site is a 3 acre, south facing field bounded by mature trees and a stream. We have established a 625sq metre community garden which is growing some great veg.

Briefly the job will entail -
Preparing and developing the growing area (with member help)
Planning veg production to supply 20 shares for a minimum of 9 months
Production of fruit and vegetables for 20 shares to organic guidelines (though the site is not registered organic)
Working closely with the customers and directing voluntary labour to best effect

We have an organic horticulturist to mentor the project and provide support to the grower.
We are still finalising the details of the project but are very happy to receive enquiries from any interested parties who would like to know more and/or be kept informed.

Work will start in Feb/March 2013.

Carrots, Goosegrass and docks...

Emma Heseltine: The veg for the pigs comes from Eva’s Organics (where I also get my veg box) on a Wednesday. All sorts of things get thrown their way from potatoes and peppers to melons and tomatoes. The only things they can’t eat are onions and citrus, both these would upset their stomachs.
