Micro-business opportunity at Whitmuir

15 January 2013

We have a small garden (0.1 acre) with raised beds and a poytunnnel (18' by 48') available for an aspiring grower to run as a micro-business in 2013.

Whitmuir is a hub of organic enterprises with a mixed livestock farm, plus a butchery, bakery, farm shop, restaurant, art gallery and community growing project on site.

The focus of this opportunity would be to provide a 'kitchen garden' for the restaurant, growing herbs and distinctive vegetables for the chef.  Support and equipment provided.  This would offer a new grower the chance to run her or his own business for a season without much risk.  This could be done as a part-time business, or the grower could supplement their business with extra hours on the farm or possibly one of the other on-site businesses.

Carrots, Goosegrass and docks...

Emma Heseltine: The veg for the pigs comes from Eva’s Organics (where I also get my veg box) on a Wednesday. All sorts of things get thrown their way from potatoes and peppers to melons and tomatoes. The only things they can’t eat are onions and citrus, both these would upset their stomachs.
