Double-D cups offer best support for organic grower's melons

10 September 2010

Soil Association member Rowie Meers, of Purton House Organics, is using old bras to prop up her crop of galia melons, which were in danger of breaking their vines as they grew.

As reported in The Times today (page 26), Rowie had tried several methods of solving the problem without success.

"My eureka moment came as I looked down - the answer was under my nose," she said. An appeal for help from her customers brough in mountains of underwear. "We appreciate their support, especially the double-D cups. It does make my polytunnel look a bit odd but it's great fun."
