Cash bonus for Organic Arable members

22 November 2011

The organic farmer owned company Organic Arable is set to pay a loyalty bonus to its members. Established by farmers in 1999 to ensure a fair deal for its members and its trading partners, it now has 63 members and deals exclusively with UK grown organic grain.

Members will receive up to £900 depending on the tonnage they sold through the company this last year.  Managing Director Andrew Trump said “We are delighted to be able to make these bonus payments. Our whole business focus is to do the right thing for our members and long term customers.  We keep our costs to a minimum and all surpluses go back into the operation to generate further benefits for the members"

OA chairman John Pawsey who farms 1700 organic acres in Suffolk commented that “all our members, whether with large or small acreages, will share in the bonus package and I will be writing to them outlining the details.  I recently heard that some directors of organic grain businesses in the UK are paid a couple of hundred thousand pounds in salary.  That’s a few hundred thousand reasons why organic farmers should work with Organic Arable rather than with companies who are not as committed as we are to UK organic farmers. We have a different philosophy to those who put their own interests above the UK organic farmers and sector. We are about investing in the sector, supporting producers and building long term relationships with our customer, we are innovative, transparent, believe in the viability of the UK organic sector and are bullish about the future."
