Defra Notification of Trade Visit possibility - Japan and South Korea
19 April 2012
We have just received notification from Defra that the European Commissioner will be visiting Japan and South Korea in October. Full details are included below:
"Organic operators interested in joining the visit with a view to promoting their products for export to these countries are invited to express interest to the Commission. Please note that this is self funded, neither the European Commission or Defra are able to assist with financing accompanying businesses.
It is expected that trade in organic products with Japan will be increasingly liberalised through the removal of some administrative barriers in the near future.
Businesses should express an interest initially to the Defra organic team at organic.standards@defra.gsi.gov.uk and we will pass on their details for the Commission to contact."
The Commission requires this information, from Defra, by the end of April.
In addition, If you are unable to take advantage of this opportunity from Defra, but would like to learn more about organic exporting opportunities in general, then please consider attending the Soil Association Certification hosted half-day export event in London on the 30th May. If you would like further information about this event, please contact the lholdstock@soilassociation.org or call 0117 914 2406.
