Gardens Leader and Trainer
Duration:   2 year Fixed Term Contract
Salary:  Full Board (for 45 weeks) and Lodging (50 weeks) at the College plus an annual salary of £12,100
Hours:  37.5 per week
 
An exciting opportunity for a residential Gardens Leader and Trainer has arisen at Schumacher College, as part of the expansion of the sustainable horticulture course programme. With support from the horticulture team and college community you will lead the programme of work for 3 acres of grounds, which include wildlife and flower gardens, a 'no dig' organic kitchen garden, polytunnels and forest gardens. You will teach practicals for the Level 2 Certificate in Sustainable Horticulture practicals and supervise a variety of other groups and volunteers in practical gardening activities. The applicant is required to hold a Level 3 horticulture qualification (or equivalent) and be an excellent communicator, with experience of organic or sustainable horticulture and leading group practicals. This a live-in post at the College with limited fire warden duties, where you will have full room and board (self-catering when the College is closed) as well as an annual salary of £12,100.  This role will attract an individual who would use it as defining step in their career.
