BBC Food and Farming Awards now open

29 July 2010

The BBC Radio 4's Food and Farming Awards are now open for nominations.

The Awards offer great promotional opportunities for food, drink and farming businesses – a including farm shops and farmers’ markets – with guaranteed high profile media exposure to the winners. And for the first time, British drinks producers have their own dedicated category.

“Food and farming have the potential to become important drivers of our future economy,” says, Sheila Dillon, presenter of the BBC Radio 4's The Food Programme. “These awards, celebrating the best of Britain's food producers, farmers, retailers and markets have never been more important.”

Encourage your customers to nominate you via the The Food Programme website, by email or by post. Closing date for entries is 15 August 2010.

The future of food and farming is in the balance.

We urgently need additional funding to promote fairer, greener approaches to science and innovation.

We need to show how this can work in practice, and lobby government to gain farmers and the public a real voice in the research that is done in their name.
