Future Growers - apprentice required for organic farm in Fife

14 January 2013

We are looking to recruit one or two growers to help with all aspects of vegetable production. Training will be given and we are hoping you will also take part in the Soil Association Future Grower programme as an apprentice.

The farming side of the business at Pillars of Hercules has been running as an organic unit for nearly 30 years and has grown from 2 acres to some 10 acres under cultivation including 8 tunnels and a glasshouse. We also run a farm shop, café and box scheme. This year we are planning to expand our protected cropping and are putting up 3 more large tunnels.

We would hope that the successful applicant(s) would have:

  • experience of commercial horticulture
  • keen interest in a career in organic horticulture
  • aptitude for working with tools and machinery
  • ability to undertake physical outdoor work

Accommodation in a flat is available. See www.pillars.co.uk for more about us. Agricultural wages apply.
