Fruit tree pruning

05 May 2012 10:00 - 05 May 2012 16:30

Assington Mill, Assington, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 5LZ.

A one-day course to explain the principles of fruit tree pruning, the use of tools and how to sharpen them. This will be followed by a practical demonstration in Chris's commercial orchard on how to prune new trees, and another in a different orchard on how to rescue old and neglected fruit trees.
You will be able to practise on several types of trees during the day, with supervision. Chris's methods will give you confidence to deal with your own trees, without having to look at the books on the subject.

On the May course, we will be able to prune plums and cherries, as well as apples and pears.

On the November course, we will concentrate on apples and pears, but Chris will answer questions on those trees that cannot be pruned in winter.
