Winter pruning workshop

The walled garden has a range of apple and pear trees—some young, some very old. A range of habits - open bush, pyramid and espalier. We will look at the basic theory behind winter pruning, but most of the session will be practical, i.e. you will be pruning the trees - with guidance and supervision!
Some tools provided, but bring your own secateurs and pruning saws, we can clean and sharpen them for use on the day.
Course will be led by Darrell Maryon, head gardener at Wortley Hall Walled Garden.
