An introduction to the principles of beekeeping over the course of a weekend. The course focuses on beekeeping the natural way and will cover: the colony and how it works; the hive and beekeeping ‘year’; swarming; and how to negotiate problems with your bees. Participants will also have a chance to have hands on involvement with bees.
Explore an ever-growing and immensely popular pursuit. Bee populations across the world are collapsing catastrophically and we may lose one in three of every bite we eat. Keeping bees on a domestic level can be a vital way of supporting the bio-diversity that bees foster. We offer courses in beekeeping in association with New Quay Honey Farm.
We specialize in courses that are small scale, engaging and hands on. Led by talented and experienced teachers, the courses provide an intimate learning environment, ample opportunity to question and debate and good food throughout the day.
A great opportunity to get away for a weekend and learn some sustainable skills. Accomodation at the farm is available in our beautifully restored stone dairies, so stay a weekend or a week while you do your course and see the beautiful coastline and countryside of West Wales.
Come on our scheduled courses or book on demand if you have a group of six or more. All courses can be made family-friendly.
Cost: £150 for the weekend including lunch
