Quick return compost making
As recommended on the BBC's Gardener's Question Time!
Deep in the heart of the Cotswolds during the 1930's, the remarkable story of Quick Return (QR) compost making began. Using the flowers and leaves of six common herbs and honey as a powerful activator, the QR method produced nutrient-rich compost made from vegetative waste. The remarkable thing was that this compost could be made in a matter of weeks.
Aimed at both the novice and expert gardener, the main objective of this book is to pass on the legacy of QR compost making which has almost been forgotten, save for a cult following who are 'in the know'.
Easy to follow, step by step instructions are given for the QR method and scientific theories augment those put forward.
The book demonstrates how the Quick Return composting system, acting at the heart and hub of the garden, can transform the garden into a sustainable organic garden virtually creating a closed loop system where nothing gets in and nothing gets out. QR composting can allow us to rediscover some of the real basic values of life in a transition from our unsustainable reliance on consumerism.
