This seminar is an introduction to organic top fruit production.
The day will look at organic principles and standards in relation to top fruit and the processes involved in planning and planting a new orchard. We will consider rootstocks and the different varieties available, soil preparation, tree and crop management including pruning and harvest, storage and marketing. We will also hear about homeopathic techniques used in organic orchards.
There will be a classroom session, farm walk and a delicious organic lunch.
The day will based at Sunnyhaye Fruit Farm, near Woodbury in Devon.
This seminar is part of the Soil Association Organic Apprenticeship Scheme but is open to all.
