Location: Abbey Home Farm and other venues
This course is offered as individual day courses or you can join us for the whole three and a half days with camping and all meals included.
This three and a half day course is an introduction to organic crop production. It is designed to give new growers an overview of principles and practices of fruit and vegetable production on organic farms.
The course is a rare opportunity to be taught by a range of tutors who have a huge wealth of experience is organic growing and are recognised as experts in their field, and to visit some of the most inspiring organic farms in the UK.
We will go through the background to organic production and why the soil is at the heart of all we do. We will look at how to build a resilience organic system and some of the practical aspects of plant-raising.
This course is also part of the Soil Association’s Future Growers scheme. It is a fantastic chance for those people who have not secured a placement but still want to benefit from the teaching to take their knowledge of organic horticulture to the next level.
