High Weald Dairy's Sussex Slipcote Bonbons
This recipe comes from High Weald Dairy whose Sussex Slipcote was a 2012 Organic Food Award Winner. The name ‘Slipcote’ is an old English word meaning little (slip) piece of cottage (cote) cheese.
Serves 4 as a starter
200g Sussex Slipcote
100g Sunblushed Tomatoes
50g Black Olives
3 tbl sp Basil
1 clove Garlic
1 tbl sp Plain Flour
Pinch of Salt and Pepper
Egg and a touch of milk (whisked)
Place all of the ingredients apart from the bread crumbs and egg mix in a blender and pulse until well combined.
Roll into 3cm balls (you should get 12 from the mixture). Dip each one in the egg mix and then bread crumbs. Repeat if necessary and then shallow fry until golden brown all over.
Serve with a winter salad of endive, beetroot and orange.
