Say no to GM and factory farming

We led the way in persuading supermarkets to adopt a no GM policy. Our report, ‘Seeds of Doubt’ was massively influencial in dismissing claims by the GM industry.

In light of plans to introduce a mega pig farm that would be 'home' for up to 25,000 pigs, our 'Not in my Banger' campaign helped generate 11,000 objections that were submitted to Derbyshire County Council.

Avoid pesticides

Over 86% of us say we don’t want pesticides on our food. Long-term, low-level exposure produces a "cocktail effect" with potential health hazards for all of us.

Save wildlife

Research shows that on average, wildlife is 50% more abundant on organic farms and there are 30% more species than on non-organic farms.

Improve school meals

The Food for Life Partnership, led by the Soil Association, is committed to transforming food culture, revolutionising school meals, reconnecting children and young people with where their food comes from, and inspiring families to grow and cook food. We are now working with over 4,300 schools.

Provide farm visits for children

Our Organic Farm Network gives every child the chance to visit an organic farm. Over 100 farms in the network welcome over one million visitors every year.

I'm President because...

Monty Don... the Soil Association is working to change the way we farm, cook, eat and think about local food. It is a charity dedicated to promoting the connection between healthy soil, healthy people, healthy animals and a healthy planet. Over the past 50 years our knowledge, experience and skills in growing, preparing and eating good food have been deliberately abused in the name of commercial profits.

I yearn for food that belongs to, and is an important part of, a thriving and balanced society. Around the country there are tangible seeds of change with increasing numbers of people wanting a different relationship with their food. Thank you for joining our growing movement.

I'm a supporter because...

Helena, Essex... I care about the way our food is produced. Industrialised farming destroys biodiversity, leads to global warming, leaves dangerous chemicals in the food chain and forces animals to live in unnatural, cruel conditions. Organic farming is the only sustainable, natural and healthy way to produce food, and its practices enhance the health of the whole ecosystem.
