Company profile

Dr Grame LambertMyriad Organics is an organic health shop in Ludlow, Shropshire, taken over by Graham over 4 ½ years ago. Selling organic food, household and health related products, the shop has a dedicated customer base in the area and strives to raise awareness locally and regionally of the shop and also of the wider organic market.

Myriad regularly undertakes projects to raise awareness of organic food production. Last year, we secured funding from Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Shropshire Development Agency to develop information about the importance of organic food production in the region.

We then worked with six producers to draw out key messages and collate information - this was turned into boards for the general public to see in the shop and also for local groups, schools and producers to use.

This year we have started working more closely with suppliers and organising awareness raising events in store for customers to try new things and see first hand why organic is important. The shop also has a presence at local green groups and food fairs.

Tell us about your plans for Organic September...

We'lll be holding several events during September to celebrate all things organic.

Our first event on 1 September is Organic Wine Tasting where our representative from Vintage Roots will give a talk on organic wine production and its benefits. We will taste several best selling organic wines. The second event, on 9 September, is a visit to Hill Cottage Market Garden in Knighton - a great opportunity for our customers to learn how an organic market garden functions and experience the truly inspiring habitat that has been created by Mick and Alice Westrip.

Our event on the 16 September is an in store taster session offered by Higher Nature, where we will have a range of tasty and organic health products and supplements available for sampling and our expert from Higher Nature will be on hand to give advice.

The month will end with an in store 'Organic Celebration' on the 29 September, where we will have lots of delicious things to taste and samples of products to give away! We also have our organic trail for people to experience along with our prize draw for a chance to win several exciting prizes!

Tell us why you think Organic September is important and why you are involved...

It is vitally important that awareness is raised about the importance of organic food production. We regularly undertake events and promotions and Organic September is another way for us to do this. For us it's about Organic January to December but Organic September gets people to dip their toes into the world of organic.
