Visit an organic farm

Daylesford Organic Farm, Gloucestershire

Set in the Cotswold hills in Gloucestershire, Daylesford Organic Farm is both a working farm and home to Daylesford’s highly-regarded creamery, bakery, farm shop and café.

Farming at Daylesford

A range of vegetables are grown for sale in the shop, and sheep are kept on the lush organic pasture of the farm. The farm has a herd of native Gloucester cattle and a dairy herd which produces milk for the creamery. Most of Daylesford’s animals are reared organically on their large estate in Staffordshire (see Wotton Organic) which is also open to visitors. A collection of beehives is being built up with a view to producing honey for sale in the future.

Large field margins, which have been left un-cultivated and a total of 4.2 hectares of pollen and nectar rich wildflower communities provide habitat and a food source for lacewings, ladybirds, bees, beetles, small birds and frogs. These thrive in the absence of pesticides and in the nutrient-rich environment. In turn, bats, barn owls and grey partridges are now supported by the farm’s land - indicator species that demonstrate the biodiversity on the farm.

Shop, creamery, bakery and cafe

Daylesford's organic farm shop upholds its reputation for quality in food. Located in a beautiful barn sympathetically converted to retain the traditional stone and timber beams, the shop sells freshly-picked vegetables and fruits in season, specialist cheeses, including Daylesford’s  own organic prize-winners from the next-door creamery, delicatessen foods and salads, meat, and warm fresh delights from the bakery are all under one roof. The café serves a wide selection of foods from eggs benedict for brunch through to afternoon tea. Dine alfresco when the weather suits, or book in for chef prodigy Tom Aiken’s Supper Club on various dates throughout the year.

The Garden Room, Bamford Room and Haybarn

The Garden Room has all things horticultural: this stunning conversion of a traditional barn, with eco-friendly heating and lighting and recycled wood houses a bespoke range of garden tools. With organic seeds, books, time-aged terracotta pots, planters, bowls and vases, there are also potted herbs and seasonal flowers for sale: the essentials of a country life. The Bamford room is home to the Bamford range of clothes and objects for the home, whilst the Haybarn provides space for yoga classes and holds a wide range of goods to aid relaxation, from yoga mats and t-shirts to essential oils and candles.
