Food for Life Partnership Education development officer

Salary: £25,000 pro rata
Contract: Part time, 2 days a week, fixed term until July 2009
Location: Home based with some travel throughout England

Do you want to be involved in an exciting programme that is working to transform food culture in schools and communities across England? The Food for Life Partnership is a 5-year £multi-million programme, led by the Soil Association with the Focus on Food Campaign, Garden Organic and the Health Education Trust. The Partnership is working closely with 180 flagship schools in diverse communities across England, and running an award scheme for all schools committed to the best in school meals and practical food education.

We are looking for an experienced professional to research and devise cutting edge educational resources for the FFLP programme. You will deliver One Planet Food workshops in two regions and contribute to the development of these workshops and promote the Farm Links Programme to FSCs in specific regions.

You will need to be highly organised with excellent communication skills, highly creative with the ability to work under pressure to deadlines. Experience of developing educational resources would be an advantage.

Your skills and experience should include:
  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience
  • Teaching qualification BEd or PGCE
  • Substantial experience of teaching and/or working within the field of environmental education
  • Development of educational resources including writing materials
  • Sound understanding of food and farming and nutrition
  • Organisation and facilitation of schools workshops and events
