YOU ARE AT: HOME » GET INVOLVED » ACT LOCALLY » SETUP A LOCAL FOOD INITIATIVE

Enthusiastic about community orchards, vegetable box schemes, food co-ops or having more contact with a local farm?

Nothing happening in your area?

Why not set one up yourself or get together with a group of friends.

Local food for Local PeopleAn excellent source of information on how to get started is Local Food for Local People – a practical guide to developing sustainable local food economies. It introduces local food links, details all the different types of local food initiatives and provides a ten step guide to setting up a scheme.

There is a wealth of other information also available and lots of organisations that can help you – see www.soilassociation.org/localfood for details.

Local food links

If there is a local food link group in your area they may be able to help you, put you in touch with other interested people and groups and help with funding advice.

You can also contact the Local Agenda 21 officer at your local council.

You may also like to consider community supported agriculture where a community and farm link up for mutual support and benefit.
