Sawn logsWood is not only beautiful - it is also one of the few materials which can be described as truly sustainable. Some of our best loved and ecologically rich ancient woodlands have supplied timber for ships, houses and furniture for thousands of years.

But more and more people are rightly concerned that the wood they are using might be contributing to the destruction of forests around the world.

FSC Trademark © 1996 Forest Stewardship Council, AC. FSC-SECR-0004 WoodmarkThat is why the Soil Association helped set up the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) - an international non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management.

By choosing products carrying the FSC logo you can help ensure that our forests and all the social and environmental good they bring are safeguarded.

We are now working to extend this scheme to promote organic forest products.
