Rainton Farm with its dairy herd and sheep is the supplier of the organic milk used in Cream o’ Galloway’s award-winning ice-cream. The farm also provides the ruggedly beautiful backdrop to your introduction to the knack of making delicious home-made ice cream. Owned and run by the Finlay family since 1927 it began conversion to organic in 1999, scaling down the size of the herd and turning its back on the use of fertilisers and antibiotics. The result is a haven of biodiversity with 50 acres now planted with 40,000 native trees in a bid to protect the richness of the local wildlife.

Ice, Ice Baby! - Home-made ice cream making
Enjoy a tour around Rainton Farm, meeting the dairy cows and seeing their milking parlour before grabbing your golden ticket to go behind the scenes at Cream o’ Galloway’s ice cream factory. Learn how ice cream is made on a grand scale and then get hands on making your own with small scale equipment. Have fun experimenting with different Cream o’ Galloway ingredients, creating your very own signature flavour. Finish off the day by sitting down to a tasting session sampling the range of ice creams made by the group – don’t forget to bring a cool box to take home any left overs!
