Volunteer for a free family day out!
The Soil Association is offering parents the opportunity to enjoy a free day out at one of the UK’s top visitor attractions.
This summer, we will be compiling a league table ranking the food and drink on offer at the UK’s favourite days out – zoos, theme parks, museums, art galleries, visitor centres, botanic gardens – and we need your help! We’re recruiting a team of ‘secret diner’ parents to visit and review these iconic attractions. We are offering free entry and free lunch to parents and children who act as ‘secret diners’ – click on the link below to sign up!
The Out to Lunch campaign
The Soil Association’s Out to Lunch campaign is working with parents to investigate the food on offer to children and families outside of the home. Last year we published a league table ranking children's menus in 21 top high street restaurant chains, kick-starting a revolution in children's food on the high street. This year we are turning our attention to popular family days out.
Millions of families grab lunch at the UK’s iconic attractions during the school holidays. Do these attractions – zoos, theme parks, museums, botanic gardens – offer children and families the food and drink they deserve? Which popular attractions are taking parents for a ride by failing to meet their demand for freshly prepared, healthy and sustainable food? Which iconic venues are supporting British farmers by buying local? Which are failing to make the grade?
With your help, we’ll find out.
Volunteer as a ‘secret diner’
By volunteering as a ‘secret diner’ you can help us to transform the food and drink on offer at popular visitor attractions. You don’t need to be an expert, just willing to work with us to survey one attraction during the summer holidays in July and August this year – we are looking for volunteers from all over the UK – click on the link below to sign up!
CLICK HERE to complete a short survey to confirm your interest in volunteering as a ‘secret diner’. [Please note that the survey is now closed. Thank you for all the responses we've received!]
Participating attractions include zoos, theme parks, museums, art galleries, visitor centres, botanic gardens, and historic properties – a full list will be published in July – each ‘secret diner’ family will be assigned one attraction in their region.
Free entry and lunch is provided to one adult and their children acting as ‘secret diners’.
Expressions of interest must be submitted no later than 26th June, and we will respond as soon as we can to let you know if you’re in our volunteer review team.
