When I saw the advertisement for this job, it mentioned they wanted ‘award winning food’, so I’ve made sure that’s what I’ve given them!Mark Webster
What was your motivation for gaining the award?
As a business, there’s long been an ambition to be recognised for our commitment to quality food.
Personally, when I saw the advertisement for this job just over a year ago, it mentioned they wanted ‘award winning food’, so I’ve made sure that’s what I’ve given them!’
And how did you find the process?
We knew we were going to be applying, so the menus were designed with it in mind, making things much easier from the start. The main challenge was the traceability of produce and we had to change our supply chain to achieve this.
Our Food for Life Served Here Development Manager and Certification Officer were really helpful and the inspection process was fine.
Have you used any Food for Life suppliers?
Yes we did. We now use online purchase solutions to help us control our produce better. It’s too early to tell what the cost implications might be, but it has certainly helped us control our food spend and reduce the paper trail.
Make sure the culture is right before you even thinking of applying.
