The latest data available directly from Ministerstvo Zemědělství reports a total turnover for organic industry of 2.72 billion CZK in 2013, this growing from a base of 0.84 billion CZK in 2006.
Consumer spending in 2013 accounted for 1.95 billion CZK, year-on-year increase in the total business turnover of 9.5%. The market has grown almost four-fold since 2005. Organic share of total food was 0.71 in 2013 , and increase from just 0.18 in 2005.
Consumer Preferences & Channels
Average per capita consumer expenditure on organic remains below 200 CZK, up from 185 CZK in 2013.
64% of organic good are bought in supermarket chains, who have seen a relatively steady share of the market over the last 8 years.
Health Food shops account for 17% share. Farm gate sales have increased three-fold 2010-2013.
The ‘Other Processed’ continues to be the largest food category in organic in terms of sales volume (33% share – one-third of which is baby).
Milk & Dairy is second at 18%, with produce in third place (16%).
Comes under the control of EU regulation. Any food product sold as 'organic' falls under the EU regulations 834/2007 and 889/2008.
This means that the product must have been produced to these regulations and inspected and certified by a registered EU certification body.
Currently non-foods (e.g textiles and health & beauty products) are not covered by the scope of this regulation.
THE GREAT BRITISH ORGANIC SHOWCASE, PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC - 22 February 2018

UK organic businesses can display products at the showcase in Prague on February 22 to key buyers, retailers, distributors, shop owners and other organic professionals in the Czech Republic.
