Tell us about your certified business
Green Gourmet is a dynamic food innovation company, based in the South West of the UK. Our certified product range includes organic sausage, organic pork meatballs and organic mince beef which have numerous listings with school caterers, helping caterers serve more organic foods in the UK.
We have been certified since April 2014.
Why did you get certified?
We decided to become certified as animal welfare is really important to us at Green Gourmet, so it came as a natural progression to become affiliated with Soil Association Certification. It has also helped us communicate the high standards that our foods are reared to in the school meals market in which we operate. In this market we have seen a growing demand for organic standards.

How did you find the process of getting certified?
We found the process of becoming certified thorough but clear. Communication from Soil Association Certification was excellent and the process of achieving the license was rewarding and a strong stamp of approval for our business.
Are you planning to stay certified or increase the number of schemes you’re certified to?
Depending on the change in market we will continue to listen to our customers whilst exploring the possibilities to expand our certified range…watch this space!
What impact has being certified had on your organisation?
Having certified products in our range has helped us to grow our business in school meals. We have seen good growth in our organisation since becoming certified. Our organic sales grew to over 3% of our total sales in the last year.
Are there any unexpected benefits?
Being certified has opened up new channels for contract caterers and has also ended up in us gaining more listings with new customers. It came as an added benefit when building relationships throughout the supply chain.
What’s your most popular product?
Our most popular organic product from our range would be organic pork meatballs.
