Soil Association’s organic standards exceed the EU organic regulations in some areas, and are amongst the highest in the world.
They are recognised by Compassion in World Farming, who say “Soil Association’s welfare standards are leaders in the field”. This means that when buying ingredients from suppliers certified by other bodies we need to ensure they are in line with our own standards (“equivalence”).
Details of the key differences we need to check can be found in the Equivalence Annex of our Standards document.
Of course if you buy ingredients from a company already certified to Soil Association’s standards these checks have already taken place, so no further information is required.
You care about great food. So do we.
The Soil Association’s organic standards cover everything from barley to beef, chocolate to coffee. They clearly state what is and isn't allowed in the food production process. They also exceed the minimum requirements of the EU’s regulations in many areas, particularly animal welfare, GM ingredients and the use of pesticides.
We certify over 70% of the organic products in the UK. Certify with us and you’ll be able to put the most trusted and recognised organic symbol on your food and drink products.
