Accreditation for FSC® training courses

Accreditation for FSC® training courses

Soil Association Certification Forestry has recently been approved as a Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Training provider (FSC A000525). This makes the certification body one of only six approved FSC training providers, globally. It is also one of only four approved providers for Forest Management and one of only two approved providers for ISO 19011. The training is delivered through a combination of an innovative online training platform and in-person sessions delivered worldwide, with all courses including many ‘real world’ scenarios to help train auditors and certificate holders in the practice, as well as the standards for responsible forest management and chain of custody.

The courses have undergone a rigorous assessment by Accreditation Services International on behalf of FSC and been approved as meeting the full FSC requirements for ISO 19011, Forest Management and Chain of Custody training.

Kevin Jones, Head of Forestry at Soil Association Certification says, “We have carried out training for over 20 years to hundreds of people around the world. Formal approval of our FSC Training Courses is a further endorsement of our work in this area and we look forward to passing on our expertise to many more participants in the future.”

The ISO 19011 Auditing, Forest Management and Chain of Custody courses are designed to appeal to trainee auditors, as well as organisations and other individuals interested in learning more about the general requirements for FSC certification and auditing.

Clive Thomas, Forestry Training Manager at Soil Association Certification says, “We use our expertise as a longstanding Certification Body with experience in more than 40 countries to inform our forest certification training. All our trainers are expert auditors and a number have also worked for certificate holders in the past. All have extensive experience and, for our in-person courses, we always employ at least two trainers to ensure a breadth of training experience for our trainees.
