Ocado Meet the Buyer
Approx 30 licensees joined Finn Cottle, Trade Consultant at a recent Meet The Buyer event at Ocados’ new offices in Hatfield. It was a unique opportunity for smaller innovative organic brands to put forward their products/ranges to the relevant Ocado buyer in the hope of securing a future listing. Products ranged from tea to chocolate, oils to nut butters and many beauty and skincare items as well.
During the course of the event, the Ocado team were on hand to give comprehensive information on how to work with them successfully – there were sessions on merchandising and insights and an overall introduction to ‘doing business with Ocado’ by Rose Price, Head of Buying. She noted “Ocado want to always be ahead on innovation and they want shoppers to have at least two items in their basket which cannot be purchased through any other large retailer”. She stressed the importance of innovation and partnerships with organic businesses
Those who attended will find out whether or not they have been successful this week and for those who do move forward with Ocado, there is so much opportunity for making great organic products accessible to more people across the country. For many, this will be a huge expansion to their current customer base.
