I don’t have any experience in growing. Can I still apply?

Frequently asked questions

I don’t have any experience in growing. Can I still apply?

You are welcome to apply, but hosts prefer trainees/apprentices to have some paid or unpaid experience. There are various ways you could do this, for example:

  • Through voluntary work such as WWOOF, which stands for Worldwide Wokers on Organic Farms
  • You might also like to gain more experience through getting involved in a local community supported agriculture (CSA) scheme. You can find out more about this on our Community Supported Agriculture pages
  • We also advertise seasonal and voluntary positions on our website so keep an eye on our Employment and Opportunities pages.

There are also a range of other courses that you might consider. We list some of them on our Organic Careers pages or you might look at our Practical Skills courses.

Please make sure you read all the information on our website. If you have any further questions, contact the head of the Future Growers scheme, Rachel Harries, rharries@soilassociation.org or 0117 987 4601.
