Cultivating soil health field lab, Tuesday 12th July, Perthshire (first meeting)

Cultivating soil health field lab

This field lab aims to investigate reduced tillage to produce an organic arable crop, with the use of black plastic for weed control.

The meeting on 12th July will look at the effect of arable soil cultivations (including min-till) on soil health. Hugh Grierson in Perth - the farmer with the idea for this field lab - is especially interested in soil biology and the amount of ‘life’ in the soil, so we have been out in the field measuring exactly that.
