We are recruiting an Assistant Manager for a quality traditional organic vegetable producer based just South of Bristol in Somerset

We are recruiting an Assistant Manager for a quality traditional organic vegetable producer based just South of Bristol in Somerset which sells its produce through an award winning onsite farm shop.

This is an exciting and varied opportunity for a first step into farm management; you may have worked as a supervisor overseeing harvesting teams or be a competent machine operator who wishes to move into a management role. This is a permanent position.

TASKS/DUTIES TO BE UNDERTAKEN: • Supervise a team of up to 6 people over 25 organic acres, growing 20 different vegetables • Supervise quality and production • Day to day delegation of jobs for successful sowing, planting, weeding, harvesting and packing • Liaise with farm managers • Explain and demonstrate field work techniques and safety regulations to inexperienced/struggling workers • Explain policies and safety regulations • Resolve work problems and finds suitable resolutions

SKILLS REQUIRED: • Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers • Perform general farm duties • Knowledge of vegetable growing • Experienced in the safe use of tractors and farm machinery eg. PTO’s and rotovators • Ability to work in all weather conditions • Ability to supervise • Working with others • Problem solving • Job task planning and organising

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED • No Specific entry requirements. You will need skills related to English and Maths. Good people skills. • Full driving licence • Fork lift certificate would be advantageous however is not essential. • Significant on site training will be given with the opportunity for more responsibilities

RATES OF PAY: £7.45 per hour for 39 hours per week and then £11.17 per hour overtime. 31 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays and a 20% discount in the farm shop. HOURS: Average of 40 hours per week over the year working 5/6 days per week
