What do you think about the Future Farming Consultation Paper?

With the launch of DEFRA's Future Farming Consultation Paper, we have a unique opportunity to transform our relationship with food, farming and the countryside for the better.

We asked our members and supporters to find out what was important to them and have been delighted to have so much feedback. Read a small selection below...

Haven't read the consultation paper? You can familiarise yourself with it here.

"I'd like to see extra support provided for small farms and a shift away from pesticides and artificial fertilisers towards integrated and organic farming"

- David, Soil Association Member

"Financial support for small scale, local production will help to feed Britain and create value for local businesses and communities"

- Janus, Soil Association Member

"It would be great to see more organic husbandry to help prevent soil erosion and more to be done to prevent wildlife decline - there seem to be less species visiting our garden every year, it's so sad"

- Jennifer, Soil Association Member

"Farming practises that protect farmers' livelihoods & the countryside should be encouraged alongside the promotion of environmental issues"

- Lucy, Soil Association Member

" I want environmental protections and animal welfare standards to be protected, if not strengthened"

- Alastair, Soil Association Member

"I'd like financial support for farmers that focus on restoring soil structure, fertility and quality and a reduction in food waste, by tackling over-production and waste in the supply chain"

- Paul, Soil Association Member
