Organic Served Here: Give It Some Welly!

Ten restaurateurs and seven organic businesses joined Business Development Manager, Alison Muirhead on Monday for 'Give It Some Welly!'. The event, based in Glasgow, involved a morning of talks ranging from “What is organic?” to brand new consumer research about organic diners and Soil Association’s Organic Served Here Award. This was followed by organic product tasting and a delicious lunch.

Attending organic businesses ranged from seaweed producers to artisanal charcuterie makers and everything in between! One restaurateur attendee said, “I found a supplier that we can use for better quality products. It was great to hear more insight into the Soil Association and how organic can increase business.”

The group donned their wellies in the afternoon for a farm walk at Locavore Farm on the South-side of Glasgow to learn about their vegetable box scheme business. Restaurateurs and organic businesses were very impressed by the productivity of the small plot, which deals with difficult growing conditions and a just handful of expert growers at their disposal!
