Upscaling Agroecology – funding announcement

Upscaling Agroecology – funding announcement

We are delighted to be one of the six projects to have received funding from The Scottish Government Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund (KTIF).

Our new SAP collaborative project: Upscaling Agroecology, led by Soil Association Scotland and delivered across Scotland by the SAP partners, will promote agroecological and organic farming practices through:

  • On-farm workshops
  • Online webinars and resources
  • A national Agroecology conference
  • And a brand-new podcast mini-series

Many farmers tell us they are looking for ways to build resilience and sustainability, but don’t always know where to start or how approaches could be implemented on their own farms.

This new programme will showcase what agroecological and organic systems can look like in practice, explore the principles behind them and provide opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and support.

Congratulations too to two of our SAP partners who have also been awarded funding:

  • Pasture for Life with Land, Livestock, Livelihoods: Taking Charge of Change – a project focusing on practical strategies to safeguard rural livelihoods and animal welfare
  • and Propagate with Farm Cluster Connections – a knowledge-sharing programme creating farmer clusters across eight regions to foster peer-to-peer learning.

These projects will aim to use a joined-up approach to delivery and dissemination, and build lasting peer networks to support the adoption of sustainable farming systems.

The Soil Association Scotland farming lead, Colleen McCulloch said:

“Investing in farmer-to-farmer knowledge exchange is one of the most effective ways to scale regenerative agriculture. By funding peer learning networks and on-farm events, we can accelerate adoption, strengthen rural resilience, and ensure that regenerative practices are grounded in real-world experience.

“Funding these projects fuels the movement toward regenerative farming, where shared knowledge and experience restores soils, ecosystems, and hope for the future.”
