Packaging standards – support sourcing compliant packaging

The Soil Association's new packaging standards came into force in September 2025. 

We are aware that some have found it very difficult to source compliant packaging for specific products or uses.

We would like to reassure you that support is available from our specialist certification teams, which we have detailed below. Please reach out if you need advice or guidance on making sustainable, compliant packaging choices for your organic products. We will also be launching a packaging service in 2026 to make it easier for organic businesses to find compliant packaging solutions that meet their needs.

Thank you to those businesses that have already changed their packaging to meet the new requirements. We know that consumers value sustainability, and in particular sustainable packaging, when making product choices. Whilst there are some challenges during this period of transition, the standards have been updated to increase their impact and their relevance to sustainability conscious consumers.

We are collating the feedback you give us on these new standards. Soil Association will then review this feedback to ensure that our organic standards continue to be achievable yet stretching.
