COI waiver

Defra intends to extend the COI waiver for organic imports from the EU, EEA and Switzerland until the UK-EU SPS agreement takes effect.

The UK has been reviewing the current waiver for Certificates of Inspection (COIs) for organic products imported from the EU, EEA and Switzerland, which is due to expire on 1 February 2027.

Defra plans to extend the waiver until the UK-EU SPS agreement enters into force, meaning COIs would continue to not be required for imports from EU, EEA and Switzerland.
