Food for Life local programmes

Food for Life Local Programmes works with local authorities and community organisations to transform food systems across a place, making it easier for people to access healthy, sustainable food where they live.

Sustainable Food Places

A network of over 123 partnerships across the UK connecting businesses, communities and food providers to make healthy and sustainable food a key part of local life.

Cool Food Pro

A free online environmental calculator that helps caterers reduce the environmental impact of their menus. Set targets, measure savings and make changes across sourcing, meat reduction and food waste. Over 1,000 caterers have already signed up.

Food for Life Served Here catering certification

Food for Life Served Here supports caterers across a variety of sectors, serving food outside the home including hospitals, care, leisure, and private sector universities, workplaces and visitor attractions. Serving over 1.6 million Served Here meals across the UK every day. 


Green Kitchen Standard

An independent assessment framework that recognises caterers taking steps to reduce their energy, water and waste. Helps caterers demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and meet government procurement requirements.

Sustainable Supplier Scheme

Connects sustainable caterers with producers, wholesalers and innovators offering the highest quality products. Simplifies sustainable sourcing, supports certification and helps caterers meet tender requirements.

Agroecology at Scale

Through Agroecology At Scale, we are working with Ocado Retail to grow nature-friendly farming across the UK. We are building networks regionally and across farm activities.

Agroecology-TRANSECT

Agroecology-TRANSECT brings together farmers, growers, policy makers, academics and industry leaders to scale up agroecological farming across Europe. The work focuses on 11 innovation hubs.

AI 4 Soil Health

As part of the EU's Soil Health Mission, AI 4 Soil Health is building an open access digital infrastructure for soil health. It uses AI and the latest soil science to support farmers, and policy makers.

ATTRACTISS

ATTRACTISS works with farmers, governments and other agricultural stakeholders across Europe. The aim is to strengthen Innovation Support Services so they deliver greater impact for the people who use them.

Leguminose

In partnership with the University of Reading, Leguminose is researching intercropping through on-farm trials. The findings will help farmers build more productive and resilient systems.

NBSOIL

NBSOIL takes a holistic approach to soil health through Nature Based Solutions. It brings together knowledge, practice and innovation to improve soil across Europe.
