Small and low intensity managed forests

Certification for high value products such as cork, baobab, latex and maple syrup, as well as timber, from responsibly managed forests.

We can offer small or low intensity managed forests (SLIMF) a lower cost option on Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certification.

Small forests are forests of less than 100ha (or where approved by the FSC®, less than 1,000ha).

Low intensity managed forest are forests where the rate of harvesting is less than 20% of the mean annual increment (MAI) within the total production forest area of the unit, and either:

  1. the annual harvest from the total production forest area is less than 5,000m3, or

  2. the average annual harvest from the total production forest is less than 5,000m3 per year during the period of validity
