PEFC certification

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) approach combines internationally recognised benchmarks with forest management standards developed at national and regional levels.

Benefits of PEFC certification

PEFC is an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation operating through 36 endorsed National Governing Bodies.

PEFC's well-recognised label makes it easy for consumers to identify products from responsibly managed forests.

One quarter of the world’s forest is publicly owned, often managed by small communities. The PEFC Forest Management standards are tailored to family and community-owned forests, making this certification service ideal for small forest owners.

How PEFC certification works

Rather than creating their own standards for forest management and chain of custody, PEFC looks at the various certification systems in different countries that uphold their international sustainability standards.

This means that PEFC endorsement is tailored to local priorities and conditions, through many different systems and organisations.

Soil Association Certification offers PEFC certification in numerous countries for forest management, chain of custody and projects.

We can offer joint FSC and PEFC certification

Both schemes help your organisation meet legal regulations and timber procurement policies worldwide. Their familiar labels and trademarks help customers easily identify products from responsibly managed forests.
