Vegetable oil used as processing aids must be organic from November 2016

Changes to veg oil regulations

EC organic regulation 889/2008 has recently been amended to require that any vegetable oils used as greasing, releasing or anti foam agents (processing aids) in organic products must be organic. The requirement comes into place from 1 November 2016.

We anticipate that most licensees will already be using organic vegetable oils as processing aids, but if for any reason you are not able to source suitable organic oils please contact your Certification Officer as soon as possible. We have lists of organic oil suppliers, including more specialised bakery release agents available.
