Exporting organic to Taiwan after Brexit

Exporting organic to Taiwan after Brexit

We were made aware in January that organic product from the EU (UK) would no longer be automatically accepted by Taiwan after 30th May 2020. In recognition of COVID-19 disruption, the Taiwanese authorities have clarified that the 30th May deadline refers to the date when the organic certificate was issued and the organic import application filed, rather than the customs clearance date in Taiwan.

This affords UK exporter businesses access until the end of 2020, but only where they have filed an application pursuant to Article 4 of the regulation before the 29th May. Soil Association Certification will continue to explore solutions to enable export beyond 2020.

In the meantime, further information on exporting to Taiwan can be found within the Exporting Beyond the EU section of our Brexit Hub Export pages.
