The OTB unveils its €10 million plan
The Organic Trade Board (OTB) has announced a three-year plan to expand the organic industry after securing over €10m in EU funding in January. The campaign, which we are pleased to be supporting, was launched at the OTB’s annual members meeting on 1st March 2017.
The Organic Trade Board (OTB) was awarded €10.4 million by the EU to run a three-year campaign to promote organic food in the UK and Denmark. Starting in January 2017, the Organic Trade Board is working with brands, processors and retailers to drive growth in the organic food and drink sector.
Soil Association Certification were one of the sixty Organic Trade Board member companies who contributed to the campaign. Our Business Development Director Clare McDermott; a multi-award winning marketer is supporting the campaign team and will be sitting as a member of the marketing committee for the OTB.
"We’re really excited to be part of the Organic; Feed Your Happy campaign which will give a significant boost to the organic market over the next three years building on the growth that we are seeing currently. We really hope this leads to greater availability and support of organic in retailers which will ultimately benefit all our Licensees".
The new campaign will seek to accelerate growth of the organic food & drink market, which as we reported in our recently released Organic Market Report has now topped £2 billion and grew at 7.9% last year.
The campaign will complement the marketing and PR work we do as an organisation, to increase consumer awareness of organic, symbol recognition and will sit alongside our annual marketing campaigns such as Organic September and the BOOM Awards.
We are looking forward to working closely with the OTB during this exciting time of growth for organic.
