Update on the requirement for COIs for organic products from the EU, EEA and Switzerland

On 13 September 2024, Defra published an update stating that Certificates of Inspection (COI) for organic products from the EU, EEA and Switzerland will now not be required until 1 February 2027. 

The published date had been February 2025, so according to this information, COIs from the EU, EEA and Switzerland will now be delayed by a further two years, until February 2027. 

This is all the information we currently have. We will update as soon as we have any further details.

The GB (retained) and EU organic regulation requires that the first consignee carries out some specific checks when they receive imported organic goods from outside of the EU, EEA, NI and CH.
