Organic September is a month-long campaign designed to raise the profile of organic in the UK and shine a light on the amazing organic farmers, producers and brands who work hard to produce food as it should be.
Hopefully everything you’ve read, seen and experienced during Organic September has left you feeling inspired and wanting to do more all year round – not just in September. The good news is you can!
When you see the organic symbol, you can be sure what you buy has been produced to the highest standards. It means fewer pesticides, no artificial additives or preservatives, the highest standards of animal welfare and no GM ingredients.
Organic food comes from trusted sources. Any food products labelled as organic must meet a strict set of standards that define what farmers and food manufacturers can and cannot do in the production of organic food. All organic farms and food companies are inspected at least once a year and the standards for organic food are laid down in European law.
It’s simple - more people buying organic food means more organic farms. More organic farms means fewer pesticides, more wildlife and more animals raised under the highest standards.
The choices you make with the food you eat have an impact on the world you live in. Switching to just one organic item can really help contribute to changing our food system for the better.
Look for the logo when you're out shopping and try switching to organic. Many organic products are the same price or cheaper than non-organic, and there are offers and promotions in store across the month in your local supermarket and independent retailer.
